| Hello and welcome. Thank you for checking out my work. My name is David Stoddard and I am a writer of Young Adult Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Adventure novels. I am also an illustrator and painter. I work primarily in pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic, and on rare occasions, Prismacolor pencils. I live in a small, seaside, New England city with my wonderful wife Susan and a crazy cat (who goes by many names but is currently using the alias Holly Doodle). I enjoy reading, movies, music, board games, and being creative. I'm likely to be spotted shuffling around the isles of my local Borders Bookstore looking for the next book or graphic novel to go into the large pile I haven't read yet in my home library/office. Several years ago I decided to bust out of the day to day that my life consisted of and make a new commitment to myself. The first goal I set for myself was to write a book. I have always dabbled in arts and crafts but stayed away from creative writing because I didn't believe I had the necessary abilities. I love Young Adult and Children's mid-grade books (especially those with illustrations) and set out to create my own just for the sake of the accomplishment. I finished the novel and gave it to all the avid readers I knew for feedback. Well, it surprised me how many people truly liked it. One friend even got me in touch with a friend of his that worked for a literary agency. She liked the book as well and now I am represented by a very good agency (still having trouble wrapping my head around that concept). While I wait for any movement or interest from publishers I have completed the sequel and will soon start the last book of the trilogy. I don't know if anything will come of this but I am thankful for the opportunity presented to me. I also have dozens of outlines and plot synopses for other books that I hope to find time to write. Even though I spend much of my time writing or doing research now, I still try to make time for art. I am glad to have found Deviant Art and hope to meet and make friends with many people here. |
